ELF-RC ORGANIZATIONAL SEMINAR
IN EUROPE ENDS SUCCESSFULLY

An organisational seminar of the ELF-RC that was held in Frankfurt, Germany, from 2 - 3 of January 2004 has concluded its work with success. The seminar was presided by the Chairman, Dr. Beyene Kidane. Present were also several members of the Executive Committee as well as some members of the Revolutionary Council. The seminar was attended by the Coordinating Committee of Europe branches and more than hundred delegates representing their branches residing in most major cities of the European countries, and the Zone leadership of the branches in Germany.

The seminar was opened by a comprehensive statement of the Chairman in which he detailed the activities of the organization since the important 18th Eritrea Festival of Kassel in August of last year, and the isolationist wing of Seyoum had split from the organization.

The ELF-RC Chairman had stressed the activities which the organization had accomplished during the period mentioned above. Restoration of the organization's membership in the Eritrean National Alliance and resumption of its activities, as well as reparation of its relations with the governments and peoples of the neighbouring countries were noted as some of the many important measures that were undertaken..

Moreover, the organization has undertaken necessary re-organization of its institutions and organs that were affected by the crises that had rocked it for nearly one year. The Chairman also stressed the need for quick steps on the direction of an emergency congress at the earliest possible future date. Concurrently, the Chairman dwelt on the preliminary preparation in connection with the anticipated national conference, and the crucial role our organization is expected to play in this process.

Following the Chairman's statement, Samuel Daniel, member of the Executive Committee and Head of the Organizational Affairs Bureau, had extensively briefed the seminar about the situation and current status of the branches of the organization found in different locations of the world. He had stressed on the hectic work being undertaken to complete re-organization of the branches that were disrupted by elements in the leadership of isolationist group.

Later on, the participants had distributed themselves into workshops to debate the agenda points that were presented to the seminar. After extensive debate that ran for hours, the workshops had returned to the plenary session with useful and important proposal and recommendations that were outcome of rich contributions which the participants had made during the discussion sessions. The result was believed to enhance our organization's work on internal and national levels.

Among the myriad problems of our people, the crucially urgent problem the thousands of Eritrean refugees, who are continuously feeling their country to neighbouring Sudan due to the repressions at the hands of the PFDJ regime, was taken careful note of by the seminar.


The Head of the Social Affairs Bureau of the organization had presented documented information and appeals was received from the Association For the Salvation of the Eritrean Youth. It is to be noted that this association was lately formed to represent the thousands of the Eritrean youth crossing the border to the Sudan and facing extreme hardships. The delegate at the seminar had heard the report with concern and had shown readiness to everything in their power to help the suffering young refugees.

The seminar had concluded its work by endorsing many of the proposals and
recommendation which the workshops had tabled. These were forwarded to the executive leadership for consideration and implementation in the course of the activities of the organization in immediate period ahead.
